Dereliction of duty by medical staff alleged
ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Alleging dereliction of duty by the medical staff of the Hospital, Dibang Valley Student Union (DVSU), in a release, said that a government employee, who was working as a watchman in the office of election division, died in the hospital for want of proper treatment.
The students union claimed that the patient, who was brought to the hospital at around 8.45 am died about an hour later without treatment. The students union alleged that the entire medical staff, including the DMO was enjoying picnic when the patient was struggling for his life. Even, the doctor for the emergency cell was absent at that time, the students union claimed.
It demanded the DMO to discharge duty properly so that patients do not suffer.
Headmaster demanded
ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Expressing concern over the education scenario in the area, Tirap Changlang Lohit Students Union (TCLSU) today appealed to the authority for immediate posting of headmaster at Government Secondary Manmao saying that the school had been running without headmaster for the last three years. Further, the Jairampur Government School has been running without Accountancy teachers over the last many years, it said.
Rice field day
ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Rice Field Days were jointly organized by ICAR Research Complex for NEH Region, Arunachal Pradesh Centre and KVK West Siang, Basar at Dali, Chisi and Siji Villages in West Siang on November 30, December 1 and 2 sponsored by Directorate of Rice Development, Union Ministry of Agriculture.
As many as 30 farmers participated in the programme at Dali, 42 at Chisi and 30 at Siji village.
The team from ICAR and KVK Basar, which comprised of Agronomy scientist, plant protection specialist and local facilitators, interacted with the farmers regarding rice based cropping systems.
Demonstration on use of rice pedal thresher was also held and the farmers were distributed the machines (rice pedal thresher) under the National Initiatives on Climate Resilient Agriculture (NICRA) Project, KVK.
Literary cum Sports Meet concludes
ITANAGAR, Dec 5: The sports, literary cum cultural meet organized by All Kimin Students Union concluded on November 26 last.
Government Higher Secondary School Kimin emerged champion of the meet while Government Middle School, Upper Jumi was adjudged the ‘Best Disciplined School’.

ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Two houses were reportedly gutted at Pinchi village under Phassang circle of Kurung Kumey on December 3. All properties of the victims, including valuable local beads worth Rs 15 lakh were lost in the devastating fire accident, said Kipa Welfare Society, in a release. It urged the local MLA to provide immediate relief to the victims for their quick rehabilitation.
Arrest of assaulters demanded
ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Rending Welfare Society (RWS) has demanded immediate arrest of the culprits involved in the assault of Tania Tapuk, STS conductor at Naharlagun Tempo stand on November 14 last.
The society said that although an FIR was lodged with police on the same day against the culprits, no arrest has been made yet.
ATA seeks justice for VP
ITANAGAR, Dec 5: In its representation to deputy commissioner West Siang district, Arunachal Teachers Association (ATA) demanded a fair justification of the case of vice principal Jomdo Lona pertaining to Tamar Yorpen suicide case.
ATA said that delay in delivering the justice would compel the apex teaching association to demand for CBI investigation.

ITANAGAR, Dec 5: The remote Taksing and Mechukha in the Himalayan mountain ranges
of Arunachal Pradesh along the Indo-
However, like Vijaynagar, Limiking upto Taksing of Upper Subansiri District has the same story to tell as it lack road communication, electricity and telecommunication.
The last village of Arunachal Pradesh along the Subansiri River Basin (Taksing) is completely deprived of developmental activities.
The road construction work being carried out by Border Road Organisation in this strategically important region is very poor. The motorable road is hardly upto few kilometers away from Kete Nallah, which is one hour drive from Limiking.
Due to non existence of road communication, the villagers of Tama Chung Chung, Redding, Taksing and some other villages, Indian Army and Indo Tibetan Border Police being posted at Taksing area and Maza border, needless to say are facing difficulties. The villagers of these villages carry their food stuffs from Limiking or Kete Nallah covering a long distance in the mountain terrains which take two to three days walk from Limiking. Not used to such hostile terrains, the Armed forces takes 5 or 6 days to reach Taksing from Limiking.

This negligence on the part of government in providing basic road infrastructure resulting in meager presence of Army could become a major hurdle for the nation in case of any emergency. Only sizable numbers of Indian Army along with Indo Tibetan Border Police are guarding these hilly terrains border of Indian Territory.
The immediate road connectivity is must for Taksing and Maza borders to strengthen the military strength in the region and also to boost the economic and other developmental activities.
It is worth to mention that, the Chinese patrolling team manages to come near Indian Army camp (Gora, Cowshed camps) twice a year after crossing the Asapilla range and Line of Actual Control (LAC) which is one or two hours walk from Taksing.
Such patrolling by Chinese Army within the Indian Territory is great threat to the country and it needs to be addressed by the government of both the countries. Though our country is launching many new missiles and weapons day by day, the task of defending the country’s international boundaries within Arunachal Pradesh would be futile, until and unless sufficient armed forces are pressed in to defend such strategic important locations.

RCH outreach camps at Kurung Kumey
ITANAGAR, Dec 5: Reproductive and Child Health (RCH) outreach camps were conducted at remote places of Kurung Kumey including Rengchi, Hiya and Pagba villages. Organized by district health society, the camps were held from November 10 to 13.
Altogether 298 patients with various ailments were treated and given medicines free of costs. The camps were carried out by the team of medical professional consisting of Dr. Khyoda Doi, Dr. Taigam Wangshu and ANMs Gebom Gadi, Yape Don, Borio Pigya and other NRHM officials.
Dr. L. Bagra, DRCHO, along with DPM, DAM NRHM Kurung Kumey and ASHAs of the villages also participated in all the camps. The DRCHO Kurung Kumey sensitized the public about health and hygiene. He also advised all the villagers to adopt healthy lifestyles.
In the evening the womenfolk were called for meeting and shown films on immunizations. The DRCHO Kurung Kumey took the advantage of the presence of womenfolk of the villages and sensitized them about ANC, advantage institutional deliveries and immunization to the children against six killer diseases. He also advised all the mothers to take full advantages of JSY scheme under NRHM. The ASHAs and ASHA facilitators were advised to function properly to make the NRHM successful. He told the ASHAs that they are the backbone of NRHM to bridge the gap between health system and public.
Meanwhile, School Health Camp covering 4 schools in four days was conducted in district from November 29 to December 2. During the camp more than 1000 children were treated and counselled. It was found that most of common ailments affecting students were diminished vision and gastritis.
Detailed clinical examination revealed that the cause of most of the illness were due to lack of hygiene and health education.
A case of chicken pox was also detected.
Dr. Doi and Ravinu Sarki, Senior Nurse of CHC Koloriang carried out the programme successfully. The school health programme was also conducted by the District Health Society, Kurung Kumey.

ITANAGAR, Dec 5: In a bid to promote indigenous Manipuri sport Mukna at national level, a team from Manipur demonstrated the sport at the indoor stadium of Sangey Lhaden Sports Academy today.

Four students of SLSA also took part in the demonstration as if they were experienced wrestlers to the thunderous applause of the spectators, especially students of the sports academy.
Mukna, a kind of wrestling between two wrestlers, has been one of the most popular indigenous sports in Manipur since 33 AD. In Manipuri, the Mukna players are called Jatra which means winner, said the team leader.
The team is currently on a tour of entire NE states. It has already demonstrated the sport in Mizoram, Cachar and Guwahati in Assam, Tripura, Meghalaya. The demonstration tour which started on November 25 would conclude on December 10.

Kebang settles DDSE assault case
ROING, Dec 5: The pending case of assault on Deputy Director of Secondary Education (DDSE) T Tatak was settled amicably by a local kebang held here on Sunday.
Chaired by district Zilla Chairperson Chiliko Meto and initiated by Kolom Pertin, Anchal Samity Member (ASM) of Midland, the kebang imposed a fine on the offenders with an undertaking from them not to involve in such wrongdoings in the future.
Delivering the decision of the kebang and condemning the attack on DDSE, Meto urged that the institution of kebang should be strengthened and activated to prevent personal disputes from becoming full blown communal tension.
The decision of the kebang was accepted by both the victim’s family and family of the offenders. Also it was decided that the report of the kebang’s decision will be forwarded to the court.
Calling for maintaining peace and communal harmony in the district, the kebang discouraged intervention by third parties like community students union on personal disputes and clashes.

Give us a notice before hand
Dear Editor,
I would like to draw the attention of the district administration, Pasighat, in regards to the poor & improper management of the Bazar affairs by Bazar Committee whose negligence is causing miseries to the ordinary people every now and then.
The unprecedented closure of Bazar for the death of even a vendor without giving prior notice to the general public is one of the major concerns. Pasighat, being the commercial hub of the district and the periphery should be managed with utmost sincerity. Actually we are not against paying homage to the death of a respectable Bazar person by closing Bazar. But in such genuine cases too, it would be in the larger interest of the people if the closure as homage could be paid the next day after the due announcement of the same by loudspeaker at Bazar and through AIR Pasighat in the evening.
A trader of Bazar & a customer of township may not get affected or may not know the miseries attached to such sudden and unprecedented closures.

There are so many such instances, on reaching Pasighat to buy an important thing we find the Bazar or major shops closed for the same reason. And I am not an exception! Hence, it is an appeal to the district administrator to look into such genuine cases on priority basis for the larger interest of the public.

In response to the letter ’For our land its people” by Dr. K. Mangkeng, last month, I want to say that PR Leaders are not self proclaimed and with vested interest.
Dr. K, Mangkeng is a respectable professional but he seems not to know the meaning of PR Leaders who are duly elected by the people!
Regarding the Bogum Bokang meeting on October 14th and 15 at Pessing, I am to inform Dr. Mangkeng that out of 364 land owners from Jomlo circle, 352 were not allowed to speak and none out of 171 Head Gaon Burahs and Gaon Burahs, eleven Anchal Samity Members, eleven Gram Chairpersons and thirty six Gram Panchayat Members were allowed to speak in the meeting.
As regards to ‘Our motives’ as Dr. K. Mangkeng has written, the PR leaders are not part of JAYPEE Associates and if you want to know the fact then you may ask the Arunachal Pradesh government who signed MoU/MoA with the company.
The politicizing of the meeting was quite rampant as most of the government officers who spoke were against the government’s policy in general and Tamiyo Taga, the present MLA of our constituency in particular.
We know that most of the officers who spoke on that day were active supporters of an opposition party. Did you not find any smell of politics in the meeting? We are never ashamed of anything for any reason. We have not committed any thing unlawful in the society.
Therefore, we appeal Dr. K. Mangkeng, to keep himself away from such unfounded articles which could damage his own image in times to come.

Agony is not prosperity of others but bias treatment
Dear Editor,
I want to plead the government through your daily. We hear and see some departments
get their salary raised and staffs promoted. Small departments like the Economics
and Statistics department have always seen their sister departments getting the benefit
of the government initiatives. The department has no scope for promotion. Many a
funny/ tragic incidents has happened to its staff. For example, one person was working
as a LDC in Secretariat but he passed the exam of field investigator in the Department
of Eco & Statistics and joined. Later on he sees that his colleagues working as LDC
have become Section Officer (Gazzeted) but he is still a field investigator. For

Lip service is not the solution
Dear Editor,
Only lip services of the respective Governments in centre as well as in states would
not reduce corruption in the country. Government should pass a radical law in order
to check ruthless corruption in the country. In this regard a grand old man and bête-
In recent past we have seen a spontaneous wave of Anna’s Andholan in entire country
against corruption. Now people are fed-
In the burning topic of Jan Lokpal Bill the Government should not compromise the transparency of the bill by excluding, such as, lower bureaucracy, Citizen’s Charter etc. which will be the basic weapon of the common people to fight against the corruption.
Even to clear family pension paper it takes years. Nobody concerns about the Departments’ way of working and taking such a long time to clear a file. There should be a definite time frame to clear the files. So, Citizen’s Charter and lower bureaucracy of Jan Lokpal Bill as proposed by team Anna should be incorporated in the Bill. And the state Government should also pass Jan Lokayukta Bill at par with the Jan Lokpal Bill. Team Anna did not convince by the Government’s attitude towards the bill as they want a strong law, not a flexible and toothless law. Therefore, I feel, we should do our duty to raise our voices against any kind of corruption and at least we should extend our moral support to the crusader of anti corruption movement led by team Anna.

Authorities lack interest to promote road safety
Dear Editor,
I, with a friend of mine met with an accident near Karsingsa. The reason for the accident was the sudden blocking of the road by the domestic animals of the nearby residents. Braked hard but somehow could not avoid hitting one of them. We fell hard on the road. The friend became unconscious and was injured badly. I somehow managed to get up and cried for help. Many cars were passing but non thought of helping. The spot soon become a gathering spot for the people but none seem to think about helping.
But one person as if god sent came forward to help and took us to a hospital on his car. We were treated and discharged. I faced the greatest shock, fear and helplessness.
I still thank the person who came forward for help and saved a precious life. He was truly the god sent one.
Many accidents happen not due to the fault of rider but because of the sudden obstructions.
This is the common sight in the NH-
The authorities seem to be not taking much interest in preventing accidents. There are no traffic signals and warning signs except at few places and there is no control of movement of animals on the capital complex. Karsingsa, Kankarnala and Papunallah have become accident spots.
Hence, I urge the authorities to look into this. Many accidents can be prevented and many precious lives saved.
And I thank the person who helped and saved us.

Discipline is a mere textual word
Dear Editor,
Apart from the general issue we forget the significance of discipline in school life. Today, the term discipline has become only a textual word and rarely anybody follow it. Lack of discipline can be seen in schools especially. These days students are seen roaming long hours waywardly instead of devoting time to attain knowledge. The uniforms are also not decent and often driven by the modern fashions. The hairstyle and the way of behaviour are too often worse. These days the teens are attracted by bikes and this is the reason why the accidents have become very frequent among them.
Being a student myself I know these circumstances well. I am not blaming anyone but just following my duty to aware my peers about the importance of discipline in today’s era. Therefore I request the student circle to pay attention to this hidden issue.

The dispute over 116-
The safety of the dam has been a matter of concern and a point of dispute between Kerala and Tamil Nadu States.
Even though the dam and the river are fully owned by and located in Kerala, the dam is controlled and operated on a period lease by Tamil Nadu.
Two member experts will visit the site of the dam as part of a committee set up by the Supreme Court to determine if the dam is safe.
Kerala believes the dam is structurally unsafe and will not withstand a major earthquake

While the stalemate continues, the centre has written to Secretaries of Water Resources departments of both the states, inviting them for a meeting on the issue in third week of this month, the first official meeting between the two sides on the issue in six years.
Now it remains to be seen what the outcome of the meetings will be. Though it is easier said than done, but the long feud between both the states need to stop. Both states must make room for the demands of the other.
